Accommodation

Malta is packed with a huge range of fantastic accommodation options, catering for all budgets, all tastes and all locations. Whether you fancy a swanky hotel in Sliema, or a rustic farmhouse on Gozo, there will be the perfect option for you in Malta.

Many of the accommodation options are around the bigger holiday resorts of Buġibba and Qawra but if you are looking for somewhere more secluded then there are some great little places tucked away from the large resorts. Deals can often be found on all accommodation types, especially if you don’t mind travelling off peak.

When booking a trip to Malta you will need to have a think about what type of accommodation you are looking for. If you want to be near the town centre, close to the shops and bars and restaurants and don’t want to self cater, then one of the many hotels might be the best option for you. There are a variety of hotels in Malta from small individual boutique hotels, to large international chains. There is also a range of hotel packages from room only to fully all inclusive.

If you prefer to have some of your own cooking facilities, an apartment might be a better option. Apartments are usually 1-2 bedrooms and some can often cater extra guests with sofa bed in the living area. Many apartment complexes also have the same facilities as a hotel complex, including restaurants, bars and entertainment.

For something smaller and more traditional, you could think about staying in one of Malta’s many bed and breakfasts/guesthouses. These usually have less than 10 rooms and whilst they do not offer all the facilities of the larger hotel or apartment blocks they are unique in the character and usually run by friendly Maltese locals who will give you an insight in to Malta’s culture.

If you are travelling as a larger group, or perhaps want some more space and privacy on your trip, a villa may be a good option. Villa’s can provide holiday goers with outdoor garden space and many have private pools. Villa’s are great for self catering as they have all the facilities you need. Many of the villa’s are situated a little further away from town centres in more residential rural areas.

An alternative to a villa is one of Malta’s beautiful converted farmhouses. Many of these are located on the island of Gozo. Farmhouses are ideal for bigger groups as they usually have plenty of outdoor space and private pools. Most farmhouses are hundreds of years old and whilst they have attractive historical features, they also have all of todays luxuries.
