Weather in September

September can be a lovely month to visit Malta. It is still hot with average daily temperatures at 29ºC/84.2°F. Although temperatures are not quite as high as they are in July and August it can often get quite humid making it feel hotter than it really is.

Visitors to Malta in September will be able to enjoy sunbathing on the beaches that will start to be less busy once the children go back to school towards the end of the month.

Temperatures will get cooler at the back end of September, which can make for more pleasant sightseeing conditions. There may be some periods of rain towards the end of the month although these are usually short.

You won’t need any warm coats in September but a light cardigan or jacket may be a good idea for the evenings, especially if you are visiting at the end of the month.
